INTRODUCING KENNEDY SKYLIGHTS...AGAIN

John Kennedy, founder of the original Kennedy Skylights, began making plastic skylights in 1964. He was truly a pioneer, as skylights were still in their infancy stage. kennedyTraveling across the country in his motor home, John won over the company's first customers by selling the best quality skylights available. In 1977 he decided to retire and sold his successful business to Kent Weisner, an entrepreneur who shared Kennedy's vision of quality products and top-notch customer service.

Mr. Weisner, with the pivotal help of Lee Walls, Kennedy's long time Plant Manager, and Company Vice President Connie Thomas, took the company's skylight product line to the next level. Ms. Thomas and Mr. Walls worked closely together to produce innovative, high quality products at competitive pricing, and provide superior customer service. Kennedy Skylights was the first major manufacturer to produce skylights using polycarbonate plastic. The rest of the industry soon followed its lead. The company's name was changed to Kenergy Skylights, Inc. following Mr. Kennedy's death. Over the next decade and a half the name Kenergy became synonymous with quality products, innovation and customer satisfaction.     Over the years, Kenergy Skylights, Inc. became a well-established name in the skylight industry. After being acquired by a series of corporations wishing to expand their product line and increase their revenue, the company was no longer the same.

Ms. Thomas and Mr. Walls, who helped build that successful company, have now launched a new (but old) skylight company, Kennedy Skylights, LLC.

True to its roots of quality products and customer satisfaction, Kennedy Skylights is renewing its relationship with old partners, and forming new partners, to continue to be...

"The best there was,
the best there is,
the best there will be!"

Kennedy Skylights, LLC manufactures skylights for residential and light commercial applications. Kennedy markets their quality products to distributors and stocking dealers nationwide. We believe in providing products that are energy efficient and meet the qualifications for green buildings.

“The Difference You Can't See”

Glass Performance
glass_perf300Kennedy's Marquis skylight with Sun Wise glass incorporates Cardinal Glass Industries' LoE2-140 insulated glass and superior performance characteristics. The performance chart below clearly shows “the difference you can't see.” The low-emittance LoE2-140 coating on the #2 surface provides the best performance ratings for Light Transmittance, Solar Heat Gain, U-Factor and Fading Transmission. Kennedy's Marquis skylight comes with the Sun Wise glass by Cardinal Glass Industries and three glazing options. Check your local building codes and choose Tempered LoE2, Laminated LoE2 or High Impact LoE2 (hurricane).

red_table450

Solar Heat Gain Coefficient: The amount of solar radiation that enters a building as heat. The lower the number, the better the glazing prevents solar heat gain.
U-Factor: This represents the heat flow rate through a window expressed in BTU/hr/ft2/°F, using winter weather conditions of 0°F outside and 70°F inside. The smaller the number, the better the skylight is at reducing cooling or heat loss.
Fading Transmission: The portion of energy transmitted in a spectral region from 300 to 600 nanometers. The lower the number, the better the glass is at reducing the fade potential of carpets and interior furnishings.

Advanced Technology for Longer Life
Available in three models, eight standard sizes and three glazing options, the Marquis Series features Sun Wise tempered high performance insulating glass with the revolutionary Cardinal LoE2-140 coating.

In 1978, Cardinal IG became the first manufacturer to produce dual-seal silicone IG units, drastically reducing IG failures. Cardinal IG units produced in 1978 with xl250dual-seal silicone reported a cumulative failure rate of just one percent over 20 years. Contrasted with Cardinal's 1976 polysulfide dual-sealed IG units, dual-seal silicone reduced IG failures by more than 85%.

In 1993, Cardinal introduced XL Edge, a revolutionary IG unit combining a dual-seal silicone system with patented stainless steel—rather than aluminum—spacers. XL Edge is the most durable IG unit available today. Based on a decade's worth of experience, we project that the failure rate for Cardinal IG with XL Edge over 20 years will be well below 0.5 percent.
