Preparing for a Home Improvement Installation

Collis Roofing wants to help you prepare for your Home Improvement project!

Whether it’s a new roof replacement installation, solar installation, windows and doors or roof cleaning, we want to ensure that you are as happy with the process as you are with the finished product on your Florida home. Be sure to check the preparation information for the type of roof you will have installed, not what you currently have.
While projects may vary, this is based on the average home. Your Estimating Specialist will help manage your expectations by letting you know why your project may need less or additional time based on the details and layout of your roof.

If you have any additional questions, then please contact us at 877-COLLIS1 or fill out a Contact Form. Below are step by step guides to how the process will go and what exactly you can do to prepare your home for your new roof.

Shingle Roof Installation

Morning Drop Off

Z

In the morning, your shingle roof replacement is ready to begin, the dumpster will arrive approximately between the time of 7:00 and 10:00am.

Z
In order to prevent your vehicles from being stuck in the garage or delaying the trailer delivery, be sure to move your vehicles the night before. The dumpster typically goes in the driveway to allow for quick and easy clean up.

Tear Off and Dry In (Day 1)

Z

Shortly after, typically around 30 minutes after the dumpster, your crew will arrive and will begin to work immediately to start the tear off of your existing roof.

Z
The shingles will be delivered by a conveyor belt typically in the afternoon.
Z
Depending on the size of your roof, the tear off and dry in is completed by the end of the day. Your crew will do the tear off and dry in starting from the farthest position from the trailer and move towards the trailer. This prevents your crew from stepping on or damaging any new material installed in this process.
Z
The dry in will protect your home and the wood underneath it from any weather that may occur during your installation.

Shingle Installation (Day 2)

Z
On the following day, your crew will arrive approximately the same time as before to begin installing the shingles.
Z
Depending on your local municipality, once the roof installation is about at 25% complete, an in progress inspection is typically done.
Z
After the inspection has been completed, your crew will continue the installation until the roof is complete.

Completion (Number of days depends on roof type)

Z
Upon completion, a final inspection will be done as well as an inspection with you and your estimator to ensure your satisfaction.
